Students Participation in Quality Assurance discussed at ASPU

Within the framework of the TEMPUS project ESPAQ (Enhancing Students Participation in Quality Assurance in Armenian HE), Mkrtich Avagyan, Head of Education Reforms and Quality Assurance Department at Armenian State Pedagogical University, met 12 students who had participated in training and group activities conducted by experts from Europe.

The overall objective of ESPAQ project is to empower students to participate in QA on the level of designing processes and implementing procedures.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed the QA at the ASPU, the ongoing education reforms and other issues. The students presented the problems encountered in the knowledge assessment system, identified priorities and measurability. The students also presented the distribution of credits according to the ratio of classroom and extracurricular activities and made a number of suggestions.

Talking to old.aspu.am, Mkrtich Avagyan said that students, as key stakeholders, should fully understand the elements of the education process to be able to participate in the improvement of QA.

The cooperation between students and the Department will be ongoing. In the near future, the parties will develop a work plan and set up a group of student experts, who will carry out surveys among students, thereby presenting possible solutions to the existing problems.
