The next International Summer School organized by Armenian State Pedagogical University has come to its end. At least 80 students from different countries arrived in Armenia this year within the framework of the project which enables foreign students to become ambassadors of Armenian culture, art and history to their countries.
For the sixth year in a row ASPU has been organising International Summer School - an extensive social programme which gives participants the opportunity to interact with other students in a fun and lively environment. This year, the programme brought together students from Lithuania, Finland, Hungary, Belarus, the Russian Federation, China, Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh.
The results of the ten unforgettable and exciting days were summed up during an event held at at ASPU educational base in Aghavnadzor.
Ruben Mirzakhanyan, Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University, congratulated the participants on the successful implementation of the project. The Rector highlighted the role of non-formal education in the development and education of students. “I hope that you liked Armenia and you will want to visit our country again,” Mr. Mirzakhanyan said. He handed the participants certificates equivalent to 3 credits.
The International Summer School entitled "Education, Heritage and Opportunities" was accompanied by interactive lectures and visits to cultural and historic sites and monuments in Armenia. The head of the International Cooperation Unit says this year the programme combined cultural and educational components. Special topics were chosen to contribute to the development of participants’ creative thinking skills.
“In addition to providing exchange of cultural values, the programme also helped the participants acquire multiple skills, new knowledge and get acquainted with new cultures. The participants learned, compared, and revealed new values. The programme is one of the best ways to develop students' worldview,” said Marianna Harutyunyan.
During the wrap-up ceremony the students performed the national songs and dances of their countries. Foreign students were deeply impressed by Armenia and the programme. They say they took a liking to the country as soon as their arrived and fell in love with its nature and culture during the ten days spent in Armenia.
Andriecute Asta, a representative of the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences, was happy to have the opportunity to get acquainted with the educational system in Armenia, obtain new knowledge and meet new friends from different countries. “I have gained a lot of skills which I am going to use in the future. I liked Armenia a lot. I’ll definitely visit the country again,” she said.
Yu Yala, a participant of the programme from China’s Southwest University (SWU), mostly liked the lecturers. “You have skillful and knowledgeable specialists. I am glad to have participated in this wonderful programme. I already miss Armenia though I am still in the country. Armenian churches and architecture were particularly impressive,” the Chinese student said.
Visits to cultural and historic places in Armenia were organized within the framework of the programme. The participants were introduced to the history of Armenia and the life of the youth in the country. A series of meetings, discussions, lectures and entertaining games were also organized within the framework of the programme.
At the end of the event, the participants thanked the ASPU administration for organizing an effective, impressive and unforgettable programme and promised to visit sunny and hospitable Armenia anew.
The participants of the ten-day programme represented Pázmány Péter Catholic University (Hungary), Lithuanian University of Educational Science, Pushkin State Institute of Russian Language (Russia), Saint-Petersburg State University of Economics (Russia), Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, Southwest University (China), University of Oulu (Finland), Artsakh State University and Armenian State Pedagogical University.
