Suren Amiryan - a painter faithful to nature

The Faculty of Art Education continues the series of exhibitions entitled “Gifted Alumni” and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian State Pedagogical University.

An exhibition of works by painter Suren Amiryan, a member of the International Association of Art (affiliated to UNESCO) and Union of Artists of Armenia, a graduate of ASPU, opened in the exhibition hall of the Faculty on April 13.

The exhibitions, which are unique in our educational and cultural life and have already become a tradition, present the works of graduate artists, and, in addition to instilling aesthetic taste in students, are also educational in nature.

"With the help of paintings of Suren Amiryan, one of the best and unique artists of the republic, it is possible not only to recognize the nature of our homeland, but also learn the principles of academic painting," Ara Hakobyan said in his opening remarks.

The latter considered it interesting and at the same time a bit difficult that in all the exhibited works (17) Armenian nature is depicted in different seasons, at different hours of the day, and with the artist's different thoughts and emotions. “Having an original style and handwriting, the artist remains faithful to nature,” Ara Hakobyan said.

The exhibition presents Suren Amiryan's works of the last 10 years. Although the painter's works are mostly landscapes, he admits that today he is eager to witch to abstract painting․ the demand for it has matured.

“Gifted people obtain more gifts with age," the painter says adding that the exhibition is also a good platform for students if they have a desire to learn.

Painter Suren Amiryan confesses although he graduated from the Pedagogical University in 1981, he proudly holds the title of a graduate of an educational institution that has had many talented generations.

Ghukas Chubaryan, Hovhannes Zardaryan, Levon Kojoyan, Suren Safaryan, Eduard Isabekyan, etc… The painter gives the names of the giants of Armenian fine arts, who once educated him.

Apart from painting, Suren Amiryan considers pedagogy "one of his titles" too. today, he continues to teach the younger generation."Whatever you become in life, hold that title with dignity," the artist advises young artists.

Professor Karen Aghamyan, Head of the Chair of Fine Arts, highly assessed Suren Amiryan's works: 'there is great love and devotion [in them] towards the native nature. The professor notices that the feelings of the painter, his perception of colours is exemplary for everyone, including students; there is a lot to learn from them.'

An interesting and thinking artist who cannot imagine his life without nature and work․ He is constantly works. "Also a person who is an educator and has connected his life with pedagogy in order to do his best - to educate the young generation," President of the Artists' Union of Armenia Suren Safaryan described Suren Amiryan with these words.

The president of the Artists' Union says an artist does not use only colours and lines when creating a canvas; he also puts his soul and mood , in the․ “Every artist has his own palette, way of thinking and handwriting/style. "Suren Amiryan has his own place in Armenian fine arts, and in group exhibitions his works will never be confused with the works of other painters," Suren Safaryan added.
