KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

At the initiative of the Chair of Music of the Faculty of Culture of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), the University is hosting renowned Taiwanese musician Huang Ya-Nung, who will give week-long master classes.

On the first day of the visit, the musician met with her Armenian colleagues and presented to the students the Taiwanese and Chinese Suona, Guan and duct flute. Huang Ya-Nung was also introduced to the history and development of Armenian national instruments and the traditions of performance art.

Huang Ya-Nung attempted to play the Armenian duduk, after which she and the other musicians performed Armenian songs together.

Head of the Chair of Music Ara Gevorgyan attached importance to the collaboration between Armenian and Taiwanese musicians and voiced hope that the reciprocal master classes will be effective and instructive for both Armenian and Taiwanese musicians. He added that recording a song together will serve as the best culmination of the collaboration.
