The Ambassador of People’s Republic of China Visited the Pedagogical University

The Pedagogical University hosted H.E. the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Armenia, Tian Erlong.

The aim of the visit was to discuss and outline cooperation areas with the University. The Ambassador made a tour around the ASPU Museum, got acquainted with the history and chronology of the educational institution that has been educating pedagogues after which he had a meeting with the teaching staff.

The Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan welcomed the Ambassador and expressed hope that interesting programmes will be created as a result of cooperation.

“Currently there are three Chinese students studying at our University. I am sure that the meeting will be practical, where each of us will have a large amount of unique contribution.”

In reply, H.E. Ambassador Tian Erlong expressed acknowledgements for hospitality and observed that the meeting would allow them to make certain conclusions for further effective cooperation.

When comparing the number of students in China and here, the Ambassador noticed that both nations pay a lot of attention to education, as well as preserve cultural and family traditions.

“It seems like education is in the genes of Armenian and Chinese nations.”

The Chinese Ambassador in Armenia assured that one of the operational areas of the Embassy is developing cooperation in the sphere of education which will allow increasing the number of Armenian and Chinese students in both countries. In addition, Tian Erlong expressed hope that the activities carried out by the RA Ministry of Education and Science and the Pedagogical University would bring up versatile and more exact cooperation results.

It’s already two years that Chinese language was been included into the curriculum for the elementary classes of the school N57 under the Pedagogical University. The Director of the school Naira Toghoyan spoke about the success in the learning processes.

Similarly, she confessed that she had some concerns when starting the process, but it had become obvious that the results were tangible.
“Not only the results are important but also with how much interest the pupils learn the language”, mentioned Naira Toghanyan and introduced the upcoming activities. What is more, the students of the primary also school greeted the guests by performing Chinese songs and poems. In addition, an exhibition of books in Armenian and Russian languages about Chinese history and geography, as well as Chinese textbooks was opened at the Humanitarian library of the University’s Academic library.

The Chinese student of the Pedagogical University’s Faculty of Foreign Languages Wan Hijn did the BA with an Honour degree after which continued with postgraduate education obtaining the MA and PhD degrees.

During the meeting with the Ambassador of his native country in Armenia, Wan Hijn first of all expressed acknowledgements to the University for providing quality education after which confessed that thanks to the lecturers he started loving Armenia as well as the Russian language.

And last but not least, during the meeting the Dean of the Faculty of Special Education Armine Avagyan, the Head of the Chair of Russian Language Inna Sarkisyan, the Head of the Chair of Design and Decorative –Applied Art Anush Yeghiazaryan, the Head of the Chair of Camerawork, Artistic Photography and Socio-Cultural Activities, the Lecturer of the Chair of Dance Pedagogy Ara Mkhoyan, and the Head of the Chair of World History and its Teaching Methods Rouben Safaryan introduced the possible areas of activities and cooperation of the relevant Faculties and Chairs.
