At the Pedagogical University’s Humanities reading hall the exhibition of a personal collection of books of Theologist Gabriel Vahanyan was held. The scientist’s daughter Noyemi Vahanyan donated around 300 books in foreign languages to the ASPU scientific library.
The donation was made by the pleading of the ASPU Head of Chair of Philosophy and Logic Hasmik Hovhannisyan and the Associate Professor of the same Chair Andranik Stepanyan and with the University's direct efforts of transporting them to Armenia from the USA.
The Library Director Tigran Petrosyants considered the donated literature as an immense achievement for the Library and student assuring that it would be more than useful during the learning process. Likewise, the latter also presented the path Gabriel Vahanyants had passed in the sphere of religious studies and his priceless contribution to the process of training specialists once again highlighting that personal books of the scientist are the wealth of each student of the University after Abovyan.
In her turn, the ASPU Head of Chair of Philosophy and Logic Hasmik Hovhannisyan considered it a great achievement for the general public as well to have the personal collection of the scientist's books at the University library ensuring that there is no other such library in the given sphere in Armenia. Moreover, Hasmik Hovhannisyan expressed hope that the books would serve as a source during academic internships and scientific activities.
“He is a true pride and glory in the Armenian reality as it is rather difficult to be a famous scientist in the USA”, mentioned the Associate Professor of the ASPU Chair of Philosophy and Logic Andranik Stepanyan, who had a chance to meet with the scientist ten years ago and to admire the unlimited knowledge he had in the sphere of culturology and religious studies.
What is more, the latter also introduced the scientist's biography, the directions he took up in theology and the path he covered.
We would like to mention that the Armenian Theologist Gabriel Vahanyan delivered lectures in prominent Universities, was the founding director of the institution of doctoral candidacy of Religious Studies at the Sirakuza University for many years.
