The Faculty of Philology hosted the meeting session for the “Literary Paper” club team and modern writers.
Among the guests of this already traditional meeting was the WUA President Edward Militonyan, Secretary Petros Demirchyan, the Editor of the “Literary Paper”, playwright Karinei Khodikyan, poets Khachik Mnaoukyan, Samvel Kosyan, literary critic Armen Avanesyan, journalist Shakei Yeritsyan.
The Head of the Chair of Armenian Old and Medieval Literature and its Teaching Methods Aelita Doloukhanyan considered it her mission to get this meeting organised, as the “Literary Paper” is the pulse of today’s literature, and the studnets of the Faculty of Philology, in addition to classical literature, should also be aware of the process of development of modern literature, be familiar with the contemporary writers, know the time they live in, and be able to analyze phenomena.
On behalf of the professors and the studnets, the Dean of the Faculty of Philology Ashot Galstyan assured that those meetings were much expected as it was a good occasion for them to share their ideas about literature with the guests, including the writers and literary critics. In his turn, the Head of the Chair of Armenian Modern and New Literature and its Teaching Methods after Vachei Partizouni Mr. Souren Danielyan referred to everybody’s role and contribution therein, and stated that they bring in updates and new taste with their approach and points of view.
“If there are no readers, then why would we need to write”, mentioned the President of the Writers Union of Armenia Edward Militonyan and spoke about the indifference towards literature and culture, the literary gaps and the tasteless material broadcast on television, as well as occasional re-evaluation of the Armenian classics, the fall of fake idols, and having good readers. Besides, he advised the students to read the “Literary Paper” where they could get familiarized with contemporary writers, form a literary taste and individual thinking.
“It was a great pleasure, that the “Literary Paper” is fully presenting our literary processes”, said poet Khachik Manoukyan assuring that the Armenian –literature carried high values and that modern people should communicate with modern writers. We have always tried to be close to the truth, although unfortunately the Government is not always listening.
Further on, Khachik Manoukyan and Samvel Kosyan read their poems, and Petros Demirchyan whose quarter of life was linked to this Paper, spoke about the actuality of the “Literary Paper” and its longevity.
Last but not least, the studnets of the Faculty of Philology asked their questions to the guests and expressed acknowledgements for holding this meeting in a rich literary environment. And the Editor of the paper Karinei Khodikyan stated that there were “numerous institutes and departments majoring in literature, but the dedicated and loyal readers of the “Literary Paper” were in fact the students of the Pedagogical.
