“Various outstanding figures in different spheres of science have the Abrahamyan surname, but when saying Professor Abrahamyan, we first of all refer to the greatest pedagogue, scientist, linguist Ashot Abrahamyan. The name of this merited and distinguished pedagogue is actual at all times”, mentioned the ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan during his opening speech at the republican conference organized on the 100th anniversary of the NAS Associate Member, Linguist Ashot Abrahamyan.
In addition, the Rector stressed out how proud he was to have had the Professor teach at the Pedagogical University for many years, and spoke about the manuals and other significant works in science, which had adorned the Armenian studies and didn’t lose their actuality. Besides, from his perspective of historian, Rouben Mirzakhanyan praised the scientist’s activities and emphasized that Ashot Abrahamyan had always been beyond the tone of time, he had always been high above that.
“The favourite lecturer, author of multiple scientific books, the greatest scientist, who embellished the Mother Pedagogical University in his descriptions, held the worthy place in the history of the University for his scientific contributions and pedagogical weight”, mentioned the Dean of the Faculty of Philology Ashot Galstyan, who is one of those happy persons to have been taught by Professor Abrahamyan’s.
According to Ashot Galstyan, the works and manuals of this scientist, his accurate scientific definitions, weighty arguments, analysis and etymology are still unbeatable.
“This prodigious pedagogue inclined his students to making diverse researches, and the bar that he had set was very high both for the students and for his co-workers”, added the Dean.
Among those participating at the conference were the teaching staff of the Faculty, scientists, the members of the Abrahamyans’ family, and his former students from various years.
The NAS Associate Member, the Head of the Chair of Ancient and Medieval Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methods, Professor Aelita Dolukhanyan was also the student of the outstanding Pedagogue Ashot Abrahamyan.
When speaking about the scientist and pedagogue Ashot Abrahamyan, Aelita Doloukhanyan mentioned the following, “Every gifted person comes to this life to realize his talent granted to him from the Above; he was destined to dedicate himself to linguistics, and particularly to the royal old Armenian, as well as to become a teacher and prepare new specialists for high-schools.
What is more, Professor Doloukhanyan divided the scientist’s activities into two parts – pedagogical and scientific, and noted that he throughout his life he had been guided by the notions of national conservation and humanity.
“From the very first moment we realized that a scientist and a pedagogue of a classical level is giving us lectures, a demanding lecturer who didn’t like to see students failing; the great devotee was willing to transfer the same on to his students”, mentioned Aelita Doloukhanyan.
After the plenary session the conference continued in sections, where the speakers referred to the word-building skills applied by the linguist, his perception of the syntax realities of the old Armenian and a number of linguistic peculiarities.
