KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The Trade Union of the Pedagogical University summoned an extraordinary meeting with the participation of 35 selected delegates.

Armen Avetisyan, the President of the Republican Branch Union of Trade Unions of Universities of Armenia, and Svetlana Marutyan, the authorized representative of the ASPU Trade Union, were elected to the presidency of the conference.

Svetlana Marutyan presented a report on the Trade Union activities of 2017-2022, after which she thanked the ASPU Rector and the staff members, involved in the activities of the Union. The work of the Union was rated satisfactory. The report of the audit committee presented by Karen Khanyan was also rated satisfactory.

Furtheron, the election of the President of the Trade Union was held at the extraordinary conference. The Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics Edik Gulyan was the only nominated candidate; he was elected unanimously in an open voting.

The newly elected President considered it an honour the be in charge of the ASPU Trade Union. Edik Gulyan confessed that he had stepped into the University 16 years ago, to study, to conduct various activities, and it was only a few months ago that he learnt about the mission of the Trade Union. As the President, he will do his best with his theoretical knowledge and organizational skills to support the interests and rights of the staff members both in and outside of the University.

The President of the Republican Branch Union of Trade Unions of Universities of Armenia Armen Avetisyan congratulated Edik Gulyan and outlined that the newly elected President is endowed with absolute leadership features, which will facilitate the social cooperation with employers and will meet the expectations of the members of the Union.
