Presentation of the books by Tigran Petrosyants, Director of the ASPU Scientific Library, took place at the University within the framework of events marking the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia. The participants spoke about Tigran Petrosyants as a patriotic person, his work style as a historian, his profound knowledge of library science and correct speech as a publicist.
“Books are the main reason for today’s meeting. In today’s globalizing world, meetings with books have become rare. Tigran Petrosyants’ pen and mind are always in search of new things,” said Avag Harutyunyan, Candidate of Science in History, Director of the National Archives of the Republic of Armenia.
He emphasized the topics raised by the author in his books, which range from Armenian commanders to inter-university chronology, the history of the First Republic of Armenia, Aparan, Artsakh, etc.
Professor Kamo Vardanyan, Director of ASPU Research Center, also referred to Tigran Petrosyants’ activity, at the same time expressing his amazement at Tigran Petrosyants’ ability to combine writer’s activity with the enormous volume of library work.
“A great patriot, humanist, a lively and intelligent person, who always stays young,” Kamo Vardanyan said when describing Tigran Petrosyants. He later touched upon the writer’s books, which present unforgettable episodes of Armenian history.
"He [Tigran Petrosyants] was a true gift to us. He came to the University, giving a contemporary and scientific look to the Library. This is highly important for an educational institution of strategic importance in Armenia,” said Professor Aelita Dolukhanyan, Doctor of Philology, a corresponding member of the National Academy of the Science of the Republic of Armenia. She highly appreciated the efforts of making the ASPU Library and reading halls a center of scientific and cultural thought.
The professor also referred to the writer’s book "Armenia, My Love" stating that it is a manifestation of unspeakable love for Armenia, and the spirit of the patriot can be seen in every line. She recommended that every student and lecturer read the book.
The writer’s colleagues and members of “Chorekshabti” (Wednesday) literary club, and students also congratulated him, emphasizing the importance of his books in human life, as well as the activities of the club in terms of discovering new students.
“You are among those people who can create an atmosphere and do something new. Your books are very important to us and to our students. They enrich our knowledge,” said Aida Topuzyan. She wished productive activity to the writer.
The meeting was followed by speeches and congratulations, with the speakers appreciating Tigran Petrosyants’ books and expressing desire to see new books by him.
