Today, the Rector of the Pedagogical University Rouben Mirzakhanyan granted certificates to 19 lecturers who had passed training in Geography and Ecology.
From 20 February till 1 March they participated in the thirty-six-hour-long academic training session organized by the ASPU.
The Vice-Rector Srbouhi Gevorgyan mentioned that the regular training at the University was conducted by the leading specialists of the field preliminarily upraising the lecturers’ professional needs.
Furthermore, Srbouhi Gevorgyan suggested to the trainees to present their observations, to mention the shortcomings and gaps in order to have them improved.
In their turn, the participants expressed their gladness for the opportunity of the trainings and looked forward for lessons lessons of invited lecturers being multiplied.
The Head of the Chair of Pedagogy and its Teaching Methods Professor Ashot Khoyetsyan highlighted the importance of the event and observed that despite lecturers’ skills, throughout the time there is always the need of refreshing and updating the knowledge.
“Geography and ecology are two dynamic fields; the changes on the global, regional and local levels straight away affect educational processes and professional qualities. The process has shown that communication with the country’s experienced leading specialists, providing actual material and getting to know the development of the field support the improvement of educational processes, the professional and methodological updating of material. In fact they are already included into the courses and ensure new quality of lectures.”
By summarizing the trainings of lecturers of all Chairs of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, the Dean of the given Faculty mentioned that the trainings were also important for establishing new connections and networking.
The ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan mentioned in his speech that the trainings were held in order to help the teaching stuff to master modern information technologies, and to get familiarized with the field novelties.
Likewise, the Rector stressed out that the teaching staff did not consider participation in trainings additional, seeing the continuous desire to learn more as an important professional quality.
Among those present at the certificate awarding ceremony were also training lecturers.The Director of the Research Centre of Biology and
Hydroecology, Professor Barkhud Gabrielyan considered the initiative mutually useful.
“We didn’t come to teach; this was giving new information to the participants, who were the best specialists in the field”.
The Vice –Rector Srbouhi Gevorgyan suggested to the Director of the Centre to organize the students’ internship there, to improve their research skills.
In his turn, Barkhud Gabrielyan assured that the cooperation between the parties would continue and become more effective; many of the staff members of his managed institution are graduates of the Pedagogical University.
The Deputy Director of the Centre Hasmik Khachatryan noticed that the cooperation should be strengthened with a memorandum.
Last but not least, the Director of the Institute of Hydroecology and Ichthyology at the Centre Evelina Ghukasyan considered the training of the specialists mandatory for them as well. The lecturers readiness demonstrated during the exchange of experience proved that they saved no efforts to equip the young people with new ideas and approaches.
