Today, a three day training on Quality Assurance was launched at the Pedagogical University organized by the organization “Students’ Partnership in Quality Scotland” (sparqs).
The aim of the trainings, as a part of the working package of increasing the number of students of higher educational institutions involved in quality assurance (QA) processes in Armenia, is to create a group of effective experts in higher education system of Armenia.
It is interactive and participative aimed at development of students as experts of quality.
Among those present at the meeting were the Vice-Rectors of the University, the Coordinator of the TEMPUS Armenian office Lana Karlova, around 60 students from 5 universities including the ASPU, Yerevan State Economy University, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, Armenian National Polytechnic University, and Yerevan State Academy of Fine Art.
The representatives of the “Students’ Partnership in Quality Scotland” (sparqs) organization Simon Jones and Simon Varwell represented their organization, its structure and activities with students, after which discussed the topic of “Students Unions and Democracy” with students’.
It should also be mentioned that this initiative is undertaken within the framework of the ESPAQ European Union Project which aims at increasing the students’ involvement in quality assurance processes in Armenia.
In this regards, the trainings held at the Pedagogical University have three main objectives: understand the conditions contributing to the quality assurance and its development, main principles of students’ involvement, representation and participation, students’ role in quality formation, acquisition of necessary skills to change the teaching practice through direct cooperation with universities.
