Two new scientific works were presented to the society on November 24. The author of the first book is Ara Hakobyan, a member of the Artists' Union of Armenia, Doctor of Arts, Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Art Education at Armenian State Pedagogical University, whose book “Seascape Painters of Armenia” was edited by two distinguished men who have had a great contribution to art – Vigen Ghazaryan, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Science, Doctor of Arts, Professor , Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, and Ruben Mizakhanyan, ASPU Rector, Doctor of History, Professor, Honoured Cultural Figure of Armenia. The author of the second book (“Plastic Anatomy of Human Body”) is Artashes Keshishyan, Professor at the ASPU Chair of Fine Arts and Candidate of Science in Pedagogy. The presentation of the books was held at ASPU.

ASPU Vice-Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan congratulated everyone on the occasion and quoted [German composer] Robert Schumann while speaking about the activity of the authors: “To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist.” “These books are another contribution to the achievements of 95-year history of art which emphasize a new layer of art and science and have a profound sense for everyone," she said.

Ara Hakobyan said that Armenians have had love, sympathy and worship for the sea for a long time. “One should not be self-confident in science. Science likes accuracy. I created this book adopting this principle,” he said.

Artashes Keshishyan said he was born into a family of doctors and got acquainted with medicine thanks to his family.

“The book is structured in a simple, accessible and strictly coordinated way and provides as much information as possible and, most importantly, it is in the Armenian language. Art lovers and time will appreciate the book. However the feedback of the past days from my colleagues and students gives me hope that something has come out of me,” he said.

The authors thanked all those who contributed to the creation of the books. “Both books are necessary to our art lovers. In both cases, a great contribution has been made to art, both are valuable books,” said Vigen Ghazaryan, an honoured cultural figure of Armenia, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Science, Doctor of Arts, Professor, State Prize Laureate of the Republic of Armenia.

As the editor of the book “Seascape Painters of Armenia” Mr. Ghazaryan stressed that huge and enormous work has been done: the book is unique and contains information that cannot be found in another place. Speaking about the second book, “Plastic Anatomy of Human Body,” Vigen Ghazaryan said that it is a great achievement to have such a book in the Armenian language. It is difficult to write a book on such a topic as cooperation between artist and doctor-scientist is not easy to establish.

Karen Matevosyan, Doctor of Science in History, Professor, called on the students ‘to make friends’ with the book, love it and read a lot. In this era, publication of such books is important, the Internet has a great role today, but the basis of science has been and remains the book," he stressed.
“Such books bring honor to our people. In addition to being wonderful works, they are also the best textbooks for students,” said Paravon Mirzoyan, Professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts, Head of the ASPU Chair of Painting, distinguished artist of Armenia. He emphasized the role of the ASPU Rector in the publication of the books.

Satenik Melikyan, Head of the Chair of Art History, Theory and Culturology at ASPU, presented an analysis on the book "Seascape Painters of Armenia" noting that the main criterion for the artistic value of each work is the degree of its influence on the audience which is determined by the close coexistence of content and form: a book can be considered as the outcome of the author's brilliant aesthetic thinking.

Professors of Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts - Tariel Hakobyan, Gagik Ghazaryan and other art critics made speeches during the presentation.
