“Four Western-Armenian writers were standing stable at the entrance of the World literature with their publications, discussing with prominent European writers, conversing, and being translated; but then the consecutive process of erasing all that happened in the Ottoman Empire was a much bigger blow for us that the mere statistics of people may assume. When the essence and quality comes out, all the rest loses its value”, mentioned the ASPU lecturer Arthur Bakhtamyan who is the director of the film “Unvoiced Nobel Speeches” the premiere of which was held at the Pedagogical University today.
“The Nobel speeches of the Western –Armenian martyred intellectuals Rouben Sevak, Grigor Zohrap, Daniel Varuzhan and Siamanto are presented in the series of film telling about the accurate documentary basics of the biography of the authors and creative facts, the time they lived in, desires and desperations, in the format of the accepted rules of Nobel speeches.
The geography of the film shot throughout 9 months is wide starting from the Saint Saivior hospital up till fishers’ village called Sarigyugh on the bank of the Black Sea, including the Kedronian college, the Armenian Catholicos Patriarchate, and the bounding streets of Ghalatia leading to the bookstore; street filled with the people of Istanbul, indifferent people that have now changed the way they look and who they are, but who have yet stayed the same throughout 100 years; people who know no one else but themselves.
In the course of the film, Nobel speeches can be heard in various streets of the city, in symbolic locations obtaining absolutely other sense and meaning.
“Covering the path of these people is hard and difficult, their speech must have been equal to the figurative work; and in fact what happened estranged us from the right of appearing in the world civilization,”Artur Bakhtamyan mentioned.
Among those present during the premiere of the film the “Unvoiced Nobel Speeches” also was the RA Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, the ASPU management, the teaching professorial team and students.
“The four intellectuals introduced in the film truly deserved the Nobel prize; with their thoughts, ideas and approaches they managed to give the correct formations and formulas of all questions that interested people”, Hasmik Poghosyan mentioned adding that the translations of the film will contribute to its wide outspread, it might even be sent to the Nobel committee, while the path it covers will definitely have consequences which the film made us think of.
The screenwriter of the series of film, the ASPU Head of the Department of TV and Radio Journalism Levon Galstyan noted in his speech to the old.aspu.am that even though the alleged speeches of the writers were conditional, still in their essence, they were author’s works. Those speeches are made in the context of their creations as an artistic view, philosophical concept that forms their artistic beliefs and outlooks towards the world, human beings, love and eternal values. Each of them is assembled in the film and intertwined as a unique philosophic manifest.
The script writer notices that the light and the shadow of the time, the pain and dreams are expressed in their speech which are the contextual components of the literary belief of their speech.
“Our goal is to remind everybody, including the whole world what we used to have and what we lost. We would like to remind people of what they had, about the realization of the treasury and the all national heritage that is called Western-Armenian literature. We are obliged to be the owners of our spiritual wealth to have a more vibrant culture and cultural consciousness,” Levon Galstyan mentioned.
The Head of the Department of New and Modern Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methods, the Head of the “Spyurq” learning and research center, professor Souren Danielyn highly appraised the value of the film mentioning that it was a wonderful episode of the blood memory, a lesson of history that the nation is living under the mystic power of four literary giants.
“The 20 years of the 20th century literature is the richest in the centuries-old process of Armenian literature. History is our memory; and it is from this period that we are trying to get the main lesson; nevertheless, we should note that the four geniuses form the literary window and dialogue; they are literary giants, even more- literary Gods”, mentioned the professor and added that the standouts of the Armenian literature proved that our poets, writers, generally the whole literature is worth the highest world price.
