The first bell signaling the beginning of university life has rung at ASPU.
First-year students were welcomed by deans, heads of chairs and professors who wished the ‘newcomers’ a memorable and fruitful academic year, success and achievements. They said the university has great responsibility and mission before the generations that will be taught by today's students and added that teaching has been and is a difficult, but honorable profession.
Priest Madatia Gasparyan of Surb Grigor Lusavorich (St. Gregory the Illuminator) Church blessed the future philologists. The heads of chairs and poet Petros Hoktanyan joined the congratulations saying that today's student is the ambassador of the Mother Tongue, the guarantor of Armenian preservation who will take their place tomorrow.
Ashot Galstyan, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, welcomed the entry of the new generation into the cradle of the Mother Tongue, conveying them the words of the famous French writer Victor Hugo, " It is a pride to be translated into Armenian.”
Ara Hakobyan, Dean of the Faculty of Art Education, wished the future artist pedagogues an opportunity to learn and create in an atmosphere of peace.
The dean reminded that they will study in a faculty with rich traditions, where famous painters have studied. Let us add that the Faculty of Art Education organized an intellectual game competition for the freshmen, which will help them get involved in students’ daily routine easily.
In his congratulatory remarks, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Tigran Mikayelyan emphasized the need to develop the country through education, especially nowadays, and wished the students success and academic achievements. He expressed hope that in the person of today's freshmen we will have the best foreign language teachers and leading specialists in various fields.
This year, the Faculty of Culture opened its doors to around 130 first-year undergraduate students. Dean Gevorg Tadevosyan congratulated the students and assured them that the faculty will do its best to ensure high-quality education. He expressed hope that today's students will continue the work of the famous graduates of the faculty in various fields of culture for the benefit of the country.
Afterwards, the first-year students walked around the University and began their first day of class at ASPU.
