Today is 1 September, the Day of Knowledge, Writing and Education. On this occasion, the Head of the Pedagogical University and the teaching –professorial staff congratulated the students of ten Faculties, and the freshmen, in particular, on the right of studying at the Pedagogical University.
In their congratulation the Deans, Heads of Chairs highlighted the great honour and responsibility of becoming a student of a 96 years old University, which had been educating and bringing up the young generation of our country for decades remaining the only leading Pedagogical University in the RA.
Likewise, the freshmen of the Faculty of Philology were congratulated by the “Best Student of the Year” Anna Sargsyan, who reminded them with the following words, ”Any path that leads to our goal starts with our first step”.
During the meeting with the students the Heads of Chairs also passed their greetings and best wishes, while the newly selected Dean of the Faculty Ashot Galstyan congratulated the students emphasizing that the Faculty had had a lot of outstanding graduates including talented actors, writers, after which he expressed his acknowledgements to the freshmen of the Faculty for trusting and giving the preference to them.
The Dean summarized his speech with a poem with which he urged them not to get stressed, not to be afraid of difficulties and to always move forward.
Similarly, congratulations were also expressed at the Faculty of History and Law; the Dean Edgar Hovhannisyan assured that the youth years would be linked to the student years; that would be a time that would become the period of acquiring knowledge, education and professional qualities.
The Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology welcomed the future psychologist-sociologists in an auditorium decorated with the professional symbol. Later on the freshmen were also congratulated by the Vice-Rector, and the Dean Rouzanna Petrosyan, who wished for the upcoming educational years to be not only those of gaining high professional qualities, but also the years of becoming a dignified human and a complete citizen of the country.
What is more, the good wishes and compliments could also be heard at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics.
The Dean of the Faculty Gagik Demirkhanyan congratulated the students and wished them to have great achievements promising that the day would be very full including a tour around the University, introduction session with the activities of the Faculty and Chairs, the educational system, while the most interesting is still ahead- auditoriums equipped with modern technologies were expecting the freshmen.
Experienced specialists, teaching at the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, are ready to do every possible thing; from the very first day, the professors’ group assured that they would support, assist and transfer their knowledge.
In her turn the Dean of the Faculty Rouzan Sadoyan wished a good students’ journey noticing that all professions of the Faculty of Natural Sciences were interesting and directly connected with nature and life. While the heads of Chairs highlighted that new methods of interactive learning would make students’ daily life more exciting, and the extracurricular internship sessions would contribute to the process of getting more skilful in the profession.
“I am glad that you have selected the sphere of special education and our Faculty, and I am assuring you that your professional choice will be justified with the knowledge you gain and upon graduation your employment issue will also be solved. Welcome to our great family”, the Dean of the Faculty of Special Education Armenuhi Avagyan also conveyed her best wishes on the very first day.
The Faculty’s freshmen were also greeted by the guest of the Faculty, the Professor of the US Concordia University Kevin Miller. He stressed out the importance of the selected profession, wished good luck and professional achievements.
Later on the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Tigran Mickaelyan was pleased to mention the from year to year students are expressing more practical, pragmatic approach towards their teaching.
They had a clear understanding of what specialisation to choose, studied the labour market with parents checking for the future opportunities therein.
I am glad that they connect their future with the profession of a teacher. That means there is interest towards the profession of a teacher on the national level”.
On 1 September, the Faculty of Culture also opened its welcoming doors for the first year students.
By greeting the students making their first steps at the University, the Dean Gevorg Tadevosyan referred to the past and present of the University outlining that just like before also nowadays the University was preparing not only good specialists, but also heroes. A vivid example was demonstrated by the decease of the 20 year old sergeant Norayr Gasparyan, who defended the homeland with his blood.
“I would like you to graduate from this educational institution by continuing the already approved tradition and becoming such specialists that would be on demand in the Republic of Armenia and outside its borders for the benefit of our country and the generation of tomorrow that you will be educating “
In the Faculty of Art Education the students were welcomed by the screening of the film about the Faculty after which the teaching staff conveyed their best wishes.
Furthermore, the Dean Sargis Elbakyan outlined that particularly in the recent years the University had had a serious development- electronic learning system, unprecedented “Summer School” international programme, cooperation with leading universities.
“The Faculty is special even with such an educational system. Here the learning process is accompanied by the creative atmosphere which will fully be continued also in the Master’s Degree”.
“Learning is a difficult task but we have done all to make it more interesting”, these words summarised the welcoming ceremony at the Faculty of Primary Education.
“The Dean Heghinei Khachaturyan congratulated the freshmen of the current academic year and their parents, introduced them with the Deputy Deans and the teaching-professorial staff and assured that in the studying years they would make efforts to equip with not only knowledge, but also important advice on accomplishing the professional journey.
The Day of Knowledge, Writing and Education continued for the freshmen of the Pedagogical University by making a tour around the University, which was followed by the first lesson at the higher education establishment.
