A few days ago, the results of the “Lecturers’ Cup 2018” sports games organized by the initiative of the Armenian State University of Economics were announced.
More than 250 sports lecturers from thirteen universities of Armenia such as the ASPU, YSU, ASUE, YSLU, YSMU, ASUAC, ANAU (Agrarian), ASIPE, ANPU, RAU (Slavonic), VSPU, UFAR (French University), AUA (American University), participated in competition held from 29 January to 8 February.
The participants competed in shooting, table tennis, chess and volleyball; the winners of 1-3 prizes were awarded with cups and diplomas, as well as special prizes from the ASUE management.
The Pedagogical University participated in the competition with the staff of the Chair of Chess and Sports, the Chair of Informatics and its Teaching Methods, as well as the newly opened “Shakhmat” [Chess] research institute and Department of Management of Educational Processes and Reforms.
The ASPU Chess team successfully competed with eight other teams and received the winners’ cup; the second and third prises were awarded to the YSU and the RAU teams.
The Pedagogical University team for table-tennis competed with 12 teams and won the second prise yielding the first to the RAU team. In the shooting sports the APSU team won the 6th place out of 13 teams, and in volleyball our team competed with 9 teams and won the 5-6 places.
During the interview to the old.aspu.am the Lecturer of the Chair of Chess and Sports Arman Gevorgyan mentioned that one of the most important objectives of the “Lecturer’s Cup” was to motivate and to disseminate the role of physical education in higher educational system through the lecturers’ example and to once again emphasize its importance in the lives of younger generations.
Likewise, he added that the ASPU Chair of Chess and Sports was going to organize competitions in various sports for the students in near future; thereby, replenishing the teams and training for upcoming students’ championships.
