An international conference entitled "With Russia in the Heart" (С Россией в сердце) was held in Moscow on October 27-28. The conference brought together cultural figures from 16 countries of the world.
At the conference, Armenia was represented by Mary Karapetyan, a professor of Vocal Studies at the Chair of Music Pedagogy at ASPU, a laureate of international competitions, and Rita Hovhannisyan, a 4th-year student of the same Chair, a three-time Grand Prix winner.
The ASPU lecturer presented a report entitled "Use of Armenian Folk Music Elements in Jazz and Pop" which aroused great interest and was approved by the attendees.
Different master classes and concert programmes were held within the framework of the international conference. During the gala concert, ASPU student Rita Hovhannisyan performed Tamzara – an Armenian wedding song-dance.
At the end of the conference, Mery Karapetyan received a certificate of "Professional Qualification Enhancement" by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, as well as an offer to participate in an exchange programme in the field of culture.
