Working Visit in the frames of Erasmus+ MODEST project

Recently, a group of ASPU delegates visited the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, within the framework of the Erasmus+ MODEST project (Modernization of Doctoral Education in Science and Improvement Teaching Methodologies). The group was composed of Marianna Harutyunyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Human Resources and International Cooperation, Samvel Asatryan, Head of the Department of Educational Processes Management and Reforms, and Tigran Mikayelyan, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

The project aims at modernization of doctoral education in science and enhance cooperation capacities in partner countries.

The ASPU delegates participated in a series of training on quality education, management of educational institutions, creation and use of e-platforms, and other issues.

Marek Frankowicz, Coordinator of a number of  international projects at the Jagiellonian University, presented JU’s structure, activity, opportunities and infrastructures.

Later on, discussions continued with the officials of the JU’s doctoral school, vice-rectors, teaching staff members and doctoral students.

The meeting focused on a number of issues, including characteristics and peculiarities of work of the Jagiellonian University and Polish doctoral schools, e admission procedure for different study courses and the process of defense of theses.

While on Poland, the ASPU representatives also were introduced to successful cases of cooperation between the JU and businesses (private companies), visited the iLab and got acquainted with the latter's activities.

The guests also got acquainted with the processes of developing doctoral programmes, their features, their characteristics and discussed MODEST-related issues.

Founded in 1364, the Jagiellonian University is one of the oldest universities in Europe. It is one of the largest universities in Poland, where over 50,000 students study in 127 fields.
