Working Visit to Germany

On 2-6 November, a coordination meeting and information seminar of the TEMPUS “ARMENQA” project was held at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

The seminar was attended by Ara Yeremyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Personnel and International Cooperation, Kristina Tsaturyan, Head of The International Cooperation Unit, Mkrtich Avagyan, Head of the Quality Management and Education Policy Department, Vahan Sargsyan, Head of the Internship Department, and Anahit Lalabekyan, Head of the Department of English Language Teaching.

The main aim of the Seminar was to introduce the EU experience on the development of Sectorial Qualifications Frameworks (SQF), methodologies and linking them to National Qualifications Frameworks.

The final outcome of the seminar was the first drafts of the Sectorial Qualifications Frameworks in five subject areas, namely: Education, Law, Physics, Agriculture and Civil Engineering.

A representative of the National Qualifications Authority of Romania introduced the Romanian experience of developing and implementing the National Qualifications Framework. Representatives of the University of Ghent, Belgium, presented their experience in the development of SQF in European Studies.

Presentations were also provided by Coordinator of ARMENQA Project, Professor Janerik Lundquist from Linkoping University, Sweden, and Mr. Volker Gehmlich, Professor at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, a regular participant of the “ARMENQA” project with extensive experience in this field. He made a short introduction on strategies and methodologies of developing SQFs in Germany and provided some recommendations for the groups to assist in writing the SQF for the specific sectors.

On the third day of the training, the 35 participants divided into 5 groups according their subject areas and prepared with their European partners the draft versions of SQF descriptors in terms of knowledge, skills and competence for Bachelor and Master Levels.

The Coordination meeting wrapped up the five-day event. It was led by the Coordinator of ARMENQA Project, Professor Janerik Lundquist from Linkoping University and the local Coordinators of the Project, representatives from Yerevan State University and Armenian State Pedagogical University.

ARMENQA is a three-year project of national importance leading to the implementation of National and Sectorial Qualifications Frameworks (NQF and SQFs) in the Republic of Armenia.
