Works of ASPU lecturers put on display

November 7 is a double holiday for ASPU: the University is celebrating its 95th anniversary and the 5th anniversary of the History Museum.

The day was marked by the opening of an exhibition which featured works of different branches, including ten paintings, five sculptures, four pieces of batik, 14 photographs, eight works of decorative and applied art and poetry.

They were all created by representatives of the University’s professorial and administrative staff. Many of them are “beginners” in this field.
On behalf of the ASPU administration, ASPU Vice-Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan congratulated the former and current employees of the University, stressing that the educational institution which is almost one century old, stands firm thanks to their daily work, dedication and creativity. “The works showcased here are in line with the authors’ virtues and state of mind. They are part of the University's value system,” she stressed.

Congratulating the ASPU Museum on the occasion, Srbuhi Gevorgyan said that since the day of its opening the Museum has organized numerous events to introduce the public to the greatest values.

During the opening ceremony, Alvard Grigoryan, the Director of the Museum confessed that during the preparatory works they revealed that not only representatives of the Faculty of Art Education, but also employees of other faculties have creative talent.

She promised to organize more exhibitions in the future, stressing that exhibitions are a good opportunity to develop aesthetic taste among students.
Alvard Grigoryan donated the Faculty of Art Education a valuable book entitled “Sound and Silence” which has been published recently.
The photos by Anna Hakhumyan, a representative of the International Unit of the University, were also presented at the exhibition.

Talking to old.aspu.am, she said that photography is the best way to express emotions. Anna, whose eyes fix all nature scenes and the hustle and bustle in the streets, says photography is a platform to present the new and the beautiful, to give people positive emotions and smiles, to convey the moods in the city and country.

Most of the works displayed at the exhibition were created by lecturers of the Faculty of Art Education.

The Dean of the Faculty, Ara Hakobyan, joined the congratulations voiced on the occasion of the day, considering the exhibition symbolic. Today, this part of the University has become an attractive place to develop aesthetic taste where one can see Khachatur Abovyan’s picture painted by People's Artist of the Armenian SSR Eduard Isabekyan. The painting has its unique place next to the works of present-day authors.

The exhibition will run until December 8. Entrance is free.
