Workshop within the Framework of BOOST Project

Today, the RA Ministry of Education and Science hosted a workshop in regards with internationalization of higher educational system organised within the scope of the national project Erasmus+ “Boosting Strategy and Marketing for Internationalisation of Armenian Universities” (BOOST). In fact, the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Kh. Abovyan is the Coordinator of this Project.

Among the participants of the workshop are the Minister of ES Arayik Harutyunyan, the Deputy Ministers Arevik Anapiosyan and Grisha Tamrazyan, the Project counterparts from the RA and European Universities, representatives from international organisations and other higher educational institutions.
By greeting the participants of the workshop, Minister Harutyunyan mentioned that according to the new draft law regulating the higher education and research sectors corresponding legislative reforms were foreseen aimed at internationalisation of the content of educational programmes, expanding cooperation opportunities with foreign universities by offering joint educational programmes or those having dual qualification, and fostering competitiveness between higher education and research work.

In addition, Mr. Arayik Harutyunyan said that currently it was impossible to review the internationalisation of the RA higher education system without high quality HE programmes and availability of internationally competitive research environment.

According to the Minister, in order to boos up internationalisation of higher education it is important to have corresponding favourable conditions that will include both financial security and effective involvement of human resources, as well as legislative regulations, defined strategy in the area of internationalisation, and relevant mechanisms.

Furthermore, the attendants of the workshop were also greeted by the Head of the Erasmus+ Armenian Office Lana Karlova, after which the ASPU Head of the Department of International Cooperation Marianna Harutyunyan introduced the goals of the BOOST project and the activities already implemented in regards with those goals. Likewise, the higher education internationalisation strategy of Armenia, generated within the scope of this project, were also presented.

And last but not least, the representatives of the Higher Technical Institute of Lisbon and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology of Stockholm shared with the best European practice of internationalization, after which presented the “Study in Armenia” platform together with its capacities to be used as a marketing tool.
