ARMENIAN DIASPORA. THE HISTORY AND MODERN ISSUES
The course mainly discusses the theoretical issues of Diaspora Study, focusing on the history of Armenian Diaspora, the reasons of formation of the Armenian Diaspora. Students will be introduced to the main historical issues and important events of the Armenian Diaspora. In addition to the historical events the course will focus on Armenian Diaspora organizations and their activities and the issues of Homeland-Diaspora relationships.
In the end of the course the students will receive a stable and well-grounded knowledge about the Armenian Diaspora.
The Students have to know basic concepts during the course.
The purpose of the course is:
- to develop students' knowledge and understanding of Diaspora study focusing on the history of Armenian Diaspora.
- to teach the students the modern issues of Armenian Diaspora
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- know the main facts and conclusions concerning the course
- do independent theoretical and practical research work in Diaspora Study.
- apply theoretical knowledge in practice, objectively evaluate historical events and processes in Armenian Diaspora.
- make a comparison to different Diasporas.
