OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY IN THE SYSTEM OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

Within the framework of the course "Ergotherapy in the system of inclusive education" it is presented about the possibilities of multidisciplinary approaches in the system of inclusive education, in particular, the introduction of ergotherapy and the possibilities of using restorative approaches.

Ways of applying theoretical and practical approaches to the profession are studied, using methods of multi-faceted assessment of students' educational abilities and limitations.

The purpose of the course is:

To present the role of occupational therapy in the educational setting and the sequential, interrelated phases of professional intervention, and to explore occupational therapy approaches and opportunities for assessing the educational needs and employment issues of a learner with SEN.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

  • To recognize and interpret the principles of cooperative work with other professionals in the process of ergotherapy and social adaptation implemented with persons with disabilities and/or employment, life activity restrictions, to generalize the methods and approaches of counseling work with the families/carers of such persons.
  • To know and interpret the main ways of organizing ergotherapy activities in the system of inclusive education and the working approaches of ergotherapy implemented in the system of inclusive education.
  • To apply the modern methodology of ergotherapy for overcoming the problems of people with disabilities and/or employment, life activity limitations and organizing the rehabilitation process, to analyze and master the information about the continuous changes taking place in the educational, social, health and urban development systems of RA.
  • To review and compare the achievements and achievements of modern science, the latest technologies used in the rehabilitation process, to apply a model for conducting independent research.
  • Ability to observe the rules of professional ethics in the process of assessing the educational needs and employment issues of a student with SEN, develop joint decision-making, conduct group work and take responsibility for teamwork in solving professional problems.
